Rules
Rules decide whether an account stays active and when a payout can be reviewed. There are no challenge phases: an account is payout-eligible from the start, subject to the payout conditions. This page explains each rule; nothing on it is final until it is adopted, and every rule that is not adopted yet is marked To be confirmed.
How accounts work
What is already decided about every account, before any trading rule is set.
- Challenge phases
Some providers make you pass one or more evaluation stages before payouts are possible. Here there are none.
Status:None. Every account is payout-eligible from the start, subject to the payout conditions.
- Simulated trading
Accounts are MetaTrader 5 demo accounts with a simulated balance. You do not deposit funds and no real money is traded on your behalf.
Status:Decided. The purchase fee is a real payment; the trading is simulated.
- Which rules apply
How rules are versioned, which version applies to an account and how much notice is given before a change.
Status:Decided. Each account keeps the rule version in force when it was bought (currently Vortex standard rules, version 1). Rules marked as decided on this page are in force; the others are being finalised and are not applied.
Loss limits
Loss limits cap how far the simulated balance may fall. They are the rules that most often end an account, so they come first.
- Maximum daily loss
The largest drop allowed within a single trading day. Open positions count: if equity falls below the limit during the day, the limit is breached even if the position later recovers.
Status:To be confirmed
- Maximum overall loss
The largest drop allowed from the starting balance at any point in the account's life, measured either from the starting balance (static) or from the highest balance reached (trailing).
Status:Decided. Equity must stay above the starting balance minus 10% of the starting balance. The limit is static: it does not move up with profits. If monitoring observes equity below it at any moment, your participation in Vortex ends, even if equity recovers afterwards.
- Measurement
Whether limits are checked on closed balance or on live equity, and at which time a trading day starts, determines when a breach is counted.
Status:Partly decided. The overall loss limit is checked on equity, including open positions, as observed by monitoring every few seconds. A drop shorter than the sampling interval can be missed, and a period without data is reviewed, never counted as passed. Trading days start at 00:00 UTC. How the daily loss limit is measured is being finalised.
Trading restrictions
Restrictions define what may be traded and how, independent of profit or loss.
- Instruments and sessions
Which markets may be traded and whether positions may be held over weekends or market closes.
Status:To be confirmed
- News events
Whether trading around scheduled high-impact announcements is restricted and, if so, for how long before and after.
Status:To be confirmed
- Position size, risk and automated trading
Limits on position size or open risk, and whether expert advisors, grid or martingale strategies and trade copying are permitted.
Status:To be confirmed
- Prohibited practices
Practices that exploit the simulation rather than trade the market, such as latency arbitrage, hedging across accounts or account sharing.
Status:Partly decided. Positions held for less than 60 seconds may be reviewed before a payout. They are not a breach by themselves. Latency arbitrage, toxic order flow, execution abuse and gambling-style behaviour are reviewed by a person before a payout. There are no automatic thresholds for them. Other restrictions are being finalised.
Payout conditions
Payouts are not guaranteed. The conditions below decide when an account becomes eligible for a payout review; the owner then approves or declines.
- Eligibility
What must hold before a payout review: for example a minimum profit, a number of trading days, a waiting period and no confirmed breach.
Status:Being finalised. An account without trading activity for 30 consecutive days may be reviewed. Nothing happens automatically. Note that the trading-platform provider may delete inactive demo accounts after a shorter period of its own.
- Profit share
The share of the eligible simulated profit that is paid to you, and whether it changes over time.
Status:To be confirmed
- Review and payment
How a payout is decided and paid.
Status:Decided. Every payout is reviewed by the owner, who approves or declines it with a reason. Approved payouts are paid outside the website and recorded against the account. There is no automatic payout and no promised payment time.
- Breach handling
What happens to an account after a rule is breached.
Status:Decided in principle: a confirmed breach ends the account's participation and payout eligibility. Which events count as a breach depends on the rules above.
